Guidance
Notes
1 - Demountable Flood Defence - Demountable
Flood Defences are suitable for a wide range of applications including community
defence, some domestic applications, commercial and industrial use. They require
reasonably good ground conditions and are not relocatable (they can only be used
in the position that they are designed for). Ideal applications might include
closing off openings in existing or new flood walls, closing off doors and windows
to existing structures, linear defence applications and industrial sites where
the system might be required to act as a containment barrier. Sites that have
very poor ground conditions, or have significant changes in levels may be less
suitable for Demountable Food Defences. Maximum flood defence height for Demountable
Flood Defences is 5 metres.
2 - Temporary
Flood Defence - Temporary Flood Defence Systems generally require little or
no preliminary works on site and they are relocatable (can be used in other areas
if required subject to other sites not having greater flood levels). Flood defence
height is less (up to 1.8 metres), but they can be put in place by anyone, without
the need for special skills or equipment, and are easier to assemble than demountable
barriers.
